Bio

Dr Panagiotis Kechagiopoulos is a Reader in Chemical Engineering. He has over 20 years of research experience on the application of experimentally validated computational methods to design and optimise chemical engineering processes for the efficient utilization of energy sources, and in particular hydrogen production. He has studied extensively the production of hydrogen via steam reforming of biomass derived liquids in novel pilot-scale spouted bed reactors and has substantial experience in the field of methane conversion. He has designed custom experimental setups for the high temperature, high pressure catalytic oxidative coupling of methane and the plasma-catalytic non-oxidative coupling of methane and dry reforming of biogas. He has held grants from the EPSRC and the Royal Society in the field of methane plasma-catalysis and has been Co-I to an EPSRC grant on the plasma-electrocatalytic conversion of CO2. He recently was PI in a Royal Society grant on the plasma assisted low temperature oxidation of hydrogen and a UK Catalysis Hub grant of biogas plasma dry reforming. To date, he has presented his work in over 30 international and national conferences, two of which were invited talks, and has published 30 research papers, one review paper, and two book chapters.
