Bio

Patrick Cnubben is an experienced hydrogen and energy-transition executive with a strong track record in hydrogen strategy, project development, ecosystem building and European cooperation.
He is CEO and Managing Director of Hydrogen Architects B.V., where he advises companies, public authorities, technology providers and regional organisations on the development and implementation of hydrogen projects and integrated hydrogen value chains. His work combines strategic advisory, business development, project structuring, consortium development, stakeholder engagement and access to European funding programmes.

Patrick previously served as Director Hydrogen Strategy at New Energy Coalition, where he was closely involved in the development of the hydrogen economy in the Northern Netherlands and in building international cooperation around Hydrogen Valleys. He remains active as a strategic advisor to organisations including New Energy Coalition and HyNorth.
He is also co-founder and co-chair of Stichting DEMO, an initiative focused on developing cross-border hydrogen cooperation between the Netherlands and Germany.

Patrick has extensive experience with Hydrogen Valleys and large-scale integrated hydrogen ecosystems, including activities and networks associated with HEAVENN in the Northern Netherlands, TRIĒRĒS in Greece, Mid-Norway Hydrogen Valley, EASTGATEH2V in Slovakia and other European hydrogen initiatives.
His work spans the complete hydrogen value chain, including renewable hydrogen production, electrolysers, fuel cells, hydrogen refuelling infrastructure, transport and storage, industrial hydrogen use and sector integration. He has particular experience connecting technology developers with industrial users, infrastructure companies, public authorities, financial stakeholders and European institutions.
His industrial network includes companies and initiatives in refining, mobility, heavy-duty transport, shipping, data centres, steel and energy-intensive industries. His activities include cooperation and engagement with organisations and markets involving VAROPreem, ORLEN, Motor Oil, MOL Group and a broad range of European hydrogen technology and infrastructure companies.

Geographically, Patrick operates across the Netherlands, Germany, Greece, Central and Eastern Europe and the wider European hydrogen market, while also developing connections with emerging international hydrogen and derivatives value chains, including hydrogen, ammonia, liquid hydrogen and green steel developments.
A central element of his work is translating hydrogen strategies into executable projects: bringing together the right industrial partners, technologies, infrastructure, public authorities and financing instruments and positioning projects within European programmes and policy frameworks.

His approach combines strategic insight with an entrepreneurial and implementation-oriented mindset, with a particular focus on building commercially viable projects that can contribute to the development of a European hydrogen economy
